I’m Jim Drew, the person behind Business Equip Limited – a Norwich-based web development company helping businesses of all sizes get more from their online presence.

With around 200 WordPress websites under my care and a growing portfolio of bespoke database and CRM systems, I spend my days building things that actually work for real businesses – not just pretty pages that sit there doing nothing.

I specialise in custom WordPress development, particularly where a standard plugin or off-the-shelf tool just won’t cut it. My flagship products, CRM Engine and Database Engine, are built from the ground up on WordPress and PHP, giving clients a fully tailored way to manage their data, customers and workflows – without the complexity or cost of enterprise software.

I started Business Equip because I saw too many businesses either over-paying for solutions they didn’t need, or struggling with tools that didn’t quite fit. My approach is straightforward: understand the business first, then build something that solves the actual problem.

Based at Business Revolution in Norwich, I work across a wide range of sectors – from events and conferencing to healthcare, retail and beyond. Most of my clients have been with me for years, which I think says more than any pitch ever could.

I wanted to do it differently: build systems and solutions tailored to how each business actually works, and then stick around to make sure they keep working. That commitment to ongoing support is still at the heart of everything I do.

When you work with me, you work with me – not an account manager or a support team you’ve never met. As a solo developer, I’m the person who builds your website or system, answers your calls and fixes the problem when something goes wrong. That directness builds trust, and it’s why most of my clients have been with me for years.

I also do something most web developers don’t – I build bespoke database and CRM systems as well as websites, so I can see the whole picture of how your business operates online. Rather than forcing you into an off-the-shelf solution, I build around how you actually work.
